In the midst of the war, Joel travels to Ukraine to meet young Ukrainian artists. Deeply affected by the war, Iryna, Serguei, Anna, Maxim and the others live far from the front, but still under threat. They practice theatre, painting, slam, street art and shibari, and tell us how their daily lives have been suspended and their future uncertain. What they all have in common is that they have turned to their art and their bodies, using them as weapons of resistance and resilience.
As the filmmaker travels around the country, he comes face to face with his past, with Natalia, the fallen love he met 15 years earlier on the other side of the world, who keeps bringing him back to Ukraine.
Nearly two years after the start of the Russian invasion, and despite the traumas still present, it is already time to rebuild the country and oneself.
En plein conflit, Joel entreprend un voyage en Ukraine à la rencontre de jeunes artistes ukrainiens. Profondément touchés par la guerre, Iryna, Serguei, Anna, Maxim et les autres vivent loin du front, mais toujours menacés. Ils pratiquent le théâtre, la peinture, le slam, le street art ou le shibari et racontent comment leur quotidien s’est retrouvé suspendu et leur avenir incertain. Tous ont en commun de s’être tourné vers leur art et leur corps, de l’utiliser comme arme de résistance et de résilience.
Alors que le cinéaste parcourt le pays, il fait face à son passé, à Natalia, son amour déchu rencontré 15 ans plus tôt à l’autre bout du monde, qui ne cesse de le ramener à l’Ukraine.
Près de deux ans après le début de l’invasion Russe et malgré les traumatismes présents, l’heure est déjà à la reconstruction du pays et de soi.
